Banyan Edu Services Mission
At Banyan Edu Services, our mission is to empower individuals at the grassroots level through the promotion of innovation, skill development, and entrepreneurship. We are dedicated to bridging the employment-employability gap by establishing an inclusive ecosystem that actively engages students, educational institutions, communities, and industry stakeholders. Our objective is to deliver high-quality services that empower grassroots individuals and create new opportunities for those at the ‘bottom of the pyramid,’ thereby driving sustainable societal change and fostering authentic grassroots empowerment.

Our Empowerment Vision
Founded in 2016, Banyan Edu Services was established with the mission of fostering societal change through grassroots innovation and addressing the employment-employability gap. This vision was inspired by our founder’s belief that true grassroots empowerment is achieved by developing an ecosystem that promotes skill development and grassroots entrepreneurship. Over the years, we have transitioned from a skill training provider to an ecosystem facilitator, engaging students, institutions, communities, and industry stakeholders to generate new opportunities for individuals at the ‘bottom of the pyramid.’ This demographic, representing the low 70-80% of the market, often lacks access to quality services. It is within this context that we aim to make a significant impact.

Stakeholder Empowerment
The State and Central Governments allocate funds to promote skill development through apprenticeship programs. For the fiscal year 2024-25, the Central Government of India, through the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, allocates approximately ₹6,205.64 crores directly for skill development. This budget supports various initiatives under the Skill India Programme, including the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) and the National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS). Additionally, we estimate that all Indian states combined allocate between ₹16,000 crores and ₹22,000 crores to skill development in FY 2024-25. Beyond the skill ministry allocations, schemes like the PM Internship Scheme (₹825 crores) and the National Apprentice Training Scheme (₹600 crores) facilitate skill development. Despite these substantial allocations, the budgets fulfil only 45-55% of the funds required to meet the stated government objectives. This shortage, coupled with a lack of creativity, hampers implementation at the grassroots level and presents challenges. Some manifestations include:
- Industries struggling to find qualified candidates and agencies to manage the processes. Smaller enterprises struggle more as agencies seek to serve large corporations,
- The reach of beneficiaries, both in terms of candidates and industries, remains limited to pockets around large cities, and
- Agents overemphasise on the subsidy offered in skilling rather than creating creative sustainable solutions. This reliance on perpetual subsidy results in an ever-increasing budget on the national exchequer.
Banyan Edu Services addresses service gaps through a three-pronged approach. First, we prioritize collaborating with micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) by embedding technology and fostering grassroots participation. Second, we choose to partner with government-run and government-aided institutions to ensure that their students gain an advantage in the job market. Third, we focus on crafting sustainable solutions instead of selling government subsidies. In FY 2024-25, we utilized only about 30% of the government funds available to us. Rather than accepting these funds, we encouraged our partner employers to utilize their Corporate Social Responsibility budgets, creating a win-win solution for both the employers and the government.
